Advice for a Healthy New Year

Just a few simple changes in your diet and lifestyle can have a positive impact on your health.  In my chiropractic practice in Saratoga Springs I urge patients to stop smoking, eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly and get 7-8 hours of sleep.

Get active! Try to exercise for 30 minutes a minimum of 4 days per week. Make your exercise routine a combination of short bursts of aerobic activity alternating with lifting weights. Youtube is a great source for exercise videos.

Eat whole, fresh foods. Choose organic when possible to reduce your exposure to toxins. Eat more raw foods. Cooking destroys much of the nutrition in foods that can be eaten raw. Avoid food that has been processed or contains preservatives.

More and more studies show the importance of sleep to our well-being.  Reduce your exposure to TV, phone and computer screens prior to bedtime. Try to go to bed at the same time each night and wake at the same time each day.
